THEATRE FOR DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION INDONESIA (TDE)
Stimulates and facilitates the social involvement of (grassroots) theatre groups and artists in Indonesia
"Theatre is a breaking of reality, busting through seperated groups from all layers of society, and bringing them together"
Hanindawan (Teater Gedag Gedig)
The TDE program has 3 components
1 Workshops By joining TDE workshops artists share knowledge, methods and practices on how culture can be used as a means for development on a local level.
Excelling workshop participants are encouraged and facilitated to further build their capacities.
In these smaller projects artists/ theatre groups work together with relevant civilians and stakeholders towards a theatrical presentation.
The proces and impact of their creative efforts are monitored and evaluated by TDE.
2 Co-productions/ network TDE is supported by Yayasan Kelola (Indonesia) and Theatre Embassy (Holland).
Both organizations have extensive international Arts networks.
Any group/ organization willing to participate with TDE is welcome to offer ideas or present their communicative goals.
TDE can connect, train and/or facilitate artists and theatre groups in Indonesia to actively involve society within their creative processes and performances.
3 Research
Within Indonesia many existing artists and groups are involved with society. TDE tries to visit and share experiences with them.
Through ongoing research we formulate best-practices and continuously build a platform of knowledge concerning the use of theatre in developmental work and its potential within Indonesia.
Facilitating platform
By combining the above mentioned components TDE strives to be a facilitating platform for theatre for development and/or
theatre for education activities in Indonesia. TDE works with various partners on a wide variety of developmental issues.
From worker's rights with CNV-International and KSBSI, to land issues in Lembang together with the Dutch Embassy.
Are you interested in using participatory theatre within your own field of work? Please feel free to contact us, we are happy to discuss
the possibilities of workig together.
